The existential anxiety of guilt and condemnation, doubt and meaninglessness, fate and death becomes occluded when it is screened out of consciousness by the pathological defence mechanisms of false perfection, false certitude and false security or the cynical defence mechanisms of moral relativism, subjectivism and nihilism.
There is no getting past the two cherubim FEAR and CYNICISM barring the way back to the Garden of Eden without courage and faith. So cultivate courage and faith. Be a Warrior Monk or a Warrior Nun.
